New TV-B-Gone kit from AdafruitAdafruit has an updated version of their open sourced TV-B-Gone Kit, a universal TV off button. The Adafruit kit is a high power version of the TV-B-Gone keychain remote, and can extinguish TVs over 150 feet away. I had the previous version of the TV-B-Gone, but the ATTiny85 microcontroller stopped working. Obviously not being able to turn off any TV was a problem, so I decided to order the updated kit and use a Vojo mint box to house the project.
Opening the box reviles the completed circuit. A small round Lego brick was used as the button.
Two AA batteries, obviously won't fit in the small Vojo mint box. The TV-B-Gone itself only fits after removing the mirror which is usually on the inside of the Vojo mints, and then shaving the plastic case away where the transistors hit. Up next is to design an updated version using surface mount components, and a lithium-ion rechargeable battery. With the smaller components, everything should fit within the mint box.
